Option 1: Clay Modeling
The Basics
Scanning Your Model
LiDAR: Easy to Use
To use LIDAR on a phone or tablet, you typically access the feature through compatible apps or settings on your device. Once activated, the LIDAR sensor emits laser pulses, capturing precise distance measurements and creating detailed 3D maps of your surroundings. LIDAR technology is predominantly featured in certain high-end smartphones and tablets. Devices like the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 series, and iPad Pro models are equipped with LIDAR sensors. On the Android side, some flagship devices from manufacturers like Samsung and Google, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the Google Pixel 4 series, also incorporate LIDAR technology. Always check the specifications of your device to confirm whether it includes LIDAR technology.
LiDAR: The Basics
LIDAR, short for Light Detection and Ranging, is a technology that uses laser beams to measure distances. It works by sending out laser pulses and measuring the time it takes for them to bounce back, creating detailed 3D maps of the surrounding environment. LIDAR allows designers to take 3D scans of clay models and construction spaces quickly and precisely.
LiDAR: Multiple Applications
Whether you are using LIDAR to scan your clay model or scan a construction space, the creative and practical uses for LIDAR are extraordinary. At Pikus, we use the technology to communicate with clients, ensuring that the 3D model is accurate to the space for the installation as well as the artist’s intentions. If you have any further questions or concerns about the use of LIDAR for creating precise rockwork chip & tab panels, please contact us and our knowledgeable team members will be happy to answer all your questions.
Artists Approval
The Bridge Between Design and Print
-
The following items will be sent to artists for final approval:
- Chip & Tab models- Rockwork final Models
- Engineering Modeling
- Color Samples (digital or physical)
- Attachments
-
All digital assets will be evaluated by both Pikus and the designer to ensure printability, structural stability, and engineering quality. If required, the design will be further evaluated by an engineer.
